REFLECTIONS ON WHETHER ISRAEL SHOULD BOMB IRAN'S NUCLEAR FACILITIES!

I would say an emphatic no to such action, such foolhardy action could result in World War Three, something that always was a possible outcome and worst case scenario of the naked act of aggression against Iraq.
It is true that Israel has bombed such facilities before, notably in Iraq and Syria, but in both those cases this action had no negative consequences because armed reprisals would have meant war with Israel, a war in which the Israeli war machine would have faced one Arab nation, or a few Arab nations notably absent would be Egypt and probably Jordan, when that juggernaut of efficiency and destruction has demonstrated on several occasions that it could defeat all the Arab nations attacking simultaneously on different borders, that it could successfully fight a battle on several fronts.
Also, on those previous occasions Israel could count on American naval power composed of aircraft carriers which would have intervened if the Israeli war machine became overtaxed.
This is an entirely different situation because a weakened American force is on the ground in Iraq, a force weakened and made vulnerable by the transfer of forces to Afghanistan; which even before that circumstance had demonstrated its vulnerability and inability to defeat the insurgency.
I have never believed that the Surge is what quelled the Insurgency that the addition of Twenty Thousand troops was the reason why the frequency and severity of forays by the resistance decreased.
I believe that the Insurgency believed that it had achieved its objective when the Democrats won a landslide victory in the Congressional Elections of October, 2007, that being the removal of Allied troops from Iraqi soil and decided to conserve its forces for the real conflict, the civil war which is the mechanism that has decided for two thousand years who ruled in Iraq.
This is what produced the cessation of hostilities which produced another incentive for Sunni forces when tribal militias went on the payroll of a grossly irresponsible and perniciously naïve Occupation Force which found itself in the exceedingly depraved position of funding both Shia and Sunni forces for a conflict that is near certain to be initiated whenever American forces are withdrawn.
I have always been wary about believing the spin about the activities of Al Qaeda forces in Iraq, I always knew that the Insurgency succeeded because of a lack of intelligence; this has always been the factor that made local popular resistance successful, always the forces occupying a country could not differentiate between members of the resistance and the rest of the population.
In this case the Allied forces could not know who was Sunni, who was Shia, or who was Al Qaeda; but this lack of intelligence did not apply to members of Sunni or Shia militias, to them foreign fighters were easily discernible, disposable pawns in their struggle; and, as soon as they no longer served the purpose of intensifying the resistance they turned on them and destroyed them, a treachery which suited them because it attracted American funds; and, was grist for the American propaganda machine which always wanted to pretend that Al Qaeda forces were in Iraq because this was in keeping with one of justifications they contrived for their naked act of aggression against the people of Iraq.
Having provided context let me predict what would happen – if the Israelis bomb the nuclear facilities in Iran.
It would unite the Iranian people behind an unpopular President, who would then have the support required to send vast numbers of Iranian Shia fighters across the border into Iraq to launch attacks against vulnerable US forces on the ground in that country.
Remember, the best case scenario for the long term interests of the USA in the Middle East, and the one logical justification for arming Sunni militias, was that the Sunni faction would prevail in the civil war thus preserving the balance of power between Sunnis and Shias, destroyed by the Attack on Iraq as evidenced by the increases in power and popularity of Hamas and Hezbollah, a circumstance which was also promoted by the removal of Syrian forces from Lebanon.
The next best scenario was that Shia forces would be victorious in that civil war – without having to rely on Iranian forces because that would produce a militant Shia Islamic Crescent which would control the second and third largest pools of petroleum on Planet Earth.
If Iranian forces start flooding across the border into Iraq to attack US forces on the ground, and are successful because these forces are vulnerable and weakened, this might precipitate a situation where the Iraqi Shia militias might see this as this as an opportunity to revenge themselves on the US forces; and, the Sunni militias might see the hope that they would ever rule again threatened and join in this conflict causing it to escalate and threaten global security.
If I were to witness an American force cross the border into Iran I would be certain that the excrement was in the air conditioner, such an incursion would likely presage the end of civilization as we know it.
I wish to make clear that one byproduct of coercion determined culture is that the intellects of its agents are lamed so that they are blind to the possible dire implications and consequences of their actions.
President Bush sincerely believed as he stood on the deck of that aircraft carrier and declared victory that his preemptive strike had been successful and that his opportunistic objectives had been attained, he had not the slightest clue that the impact the cost of the war would have on the American economy, that four thousand of the best and brightest of this generation of Americans would lose their lives in a conflict that had nothing to with winning the war against terrorism, that in fact strengthened the hand of terrorist and extremist organizations around the globe.
As he sincerely believed that he could quickly subdue Al Qaeda and the Taliban in Afghanistan using the same strategy that was employed on D Day in 1945 that resulted in the cessation of hostilities in World War Two.
It was not an unqualified success then, and such a strategy could never have succeeded against the Taliban, it was obvious that he kicked the ants nest that was the Taliban spreading the ants so that they now threat the stability in Pakistan and other centers worldwide, instead of spraying it and actually killing the ants.

Revisionists challenge D-Day story
By Hugh Schofield
Paris

A revisionist theme seems to have settled on this year's 65th anniversary commemoration of the Normandy landings.
The tone was set in Antony's Beevor's new book, D-Day, which tries to debunk certain perceived ideas about the Allied campaign.
Far from being an unmitigated success, Mr Beevor found, the landings came very close to going horribly wrong.
And far from being universally welcomed as liberators, many troops had a distinctly surly reception from the people of Normandy.
The reason for this was simple. Many Normandy towns and villages had been literally obliterated by Allied bombing.
The bombardment of Caen, Mr Beevor said, could almost be considered a war-crime (though he later retracted the comment).
Many historians will retort that there is nothing new in Mr Beevor's account.
Harrowing experience
After all, the scale of destruction is already well-established.
Some 20,000 French civilians were killed in the two-and-a-half months from D-Day, 3,000 of them during the actual landings.
In some areas - like the Falaise pocket where the Germans were pounded into oblivion at the end of the campaign - barely a building was left standing and soldiers had to walk over banks of human corpses.
“The suffering of civilians was for many years masked by the over-riding image - that of the French welcoming the liberators with open arms”
Here is the thing, the effect of coercion determined culture is to produce human beings who do not have any idea what they are doing, who have no rational appreciation of the implications or consequences of their actions.
But I have rejected and renounced being an agent of coercion determined culture, and, telling the truth has made me free and I know what I am doing.
I know that the division of the mind of Homo sapiens into two compartments was the adaptation that caused the human species to not only survive the ‘state of nature’ but eventually become the dominant species on Planet Earth because it created the capability for language and learning in human beings that permitted them to utilize fire and build simple tools; but it also allowed human organisms to be capable of the unrestrained savagery and brutality required for competing for existing energy resources with denizens much better adapted physically for existence in a world in which ‘might was right.’
The division of the human psyche into two compartments, the conscious and subconscious allowed human beings to have the capacity, the choice of acting rationally or irrationally; but the only paradigm for social relations that existed then was the model of territorial predator and prey; and furthermore the strongest human beings, the hunters, were engaged daily in this drama in which one actor gave its all to satisfy the needs of the other actor so this became the model for social relations between human beings; and, determined human culture which came to encapsulate the ideology ‘might is right,’ up to the present day.
Up to the present day the vast majority of human beings have no knowledge that reliance on coercion determined the nature of human culture, that the vast majority of human beings have been conditioned to existence only in the subconscious portions of their minds, the choice that condemns them to irrationality and endless dependency was made for them when they were denied access to education; and, if they attained social mobility they did so because they were willing to adopt the credo, ‘beliefs are opportune they conceal interests,’ so the wretched of the earth do not think, nor do the rest of human beings, so all exist in the subconscious and rely on rituals like television, movies, religious rites and ceremonies to achieve guilt reduction and continue functioning.
But I have stumbled on the means, telling the truth, that makes me rational, that makes me know exactly what I am doing; and, the dangers that threaten my species is greater than the personal threat to me that arises from telling the truth and unleashing the homicidal proclivities of members of the human species by demonstrating the difference, the ever increasing difference between concept and precept in their lives; by making them aware that I know that they embrace ethics and values in concept; but in precept they engage in the patterns of behavior they became habituated to in the ‘state of nature.’
I know, beyond doubt, that the vast majority of human beings are savages with access to, and the capability of unleashing weapons of mass destruction because they exist in the subconscious compartments of their minds and their actions are therefore intrinsically and fundamentally irrational, never with regards to social issues mediated by intelligence or limited by the dictates of conscience.
I know that I am talking a language of rationality, logic and reason that no one speaks, I am creating symbols describing a methodology that is totally and completely incomprehensible with regards to the social milieu but which has been applied to the physical environment with such spectacular and outstanding success that there is a vast and very dangerous difference between the capacity to comprehend and manipulate political and philosophical ideas and concepts; and, the capacity to crunch numbers - this being the crux and heart of this issue.
But just as your mind determines the reality you perceive, just as your behavior is determined so is mine, and, though illumination cannot be communicated, though I am aware that I am engaged in an exercise in futility I must advise you, for as long as I have breath, that there is a simple answer to all your problems as momentous and ubiquitous as they seem, telling the truth will make you free.
I am constrained to tell you that force cannot abolish wars and create peace, only love can heal the gaping wounds and traumas created in the collective consciousness down the long march of human history and create peace on earth and goodwill among men.
